Larger throttle body for your 2.3L Turbo motor
Many people are interested in installing a larger throttle body on the 2.3L Turbo motor.

The 87-93 5.0 Mustang had a 55mm throttle body (E/N: 9E926) stock from Ford.  Unfortunately, the design of that throttle body will not work on the 2.3L  The Idle Air Bypass Motor (E/N:9F715) would end up on top of the intake in order to hook up the throttle cable.  The 94-95 5.0 Mustang stepped up to a 60mm throttle body (P/N: F4ZE-HA) stock and has the same location for the IAB and TPS as the stock 2.3L throttle body.

The 94-95 throttle body does not just bolt up. I could have made some adapter plates, but David Godfrey (David no longer makes this kit, try forced4.com) has already designed and manufactured them.  Here is the kit:

The kit has everything you need to bolt on the 94-95 throttle body.  Each piece is aluminum, except for the bolts of course.  The upper left plate is an adapter for the 2.3L TPS sensor.  The top middle on top right items are for throttle cable connection. The lower plates adapt and space the throttle accordingly. Contact David for pricing details.

The black on the intake shows the material that is to be removed to match up with plates.  Some guys have ported the intake without adding extra material on top of the intake, but I added welded extra material just in case.

The assembly of the plates is simple.  On the left the plate with the o-ring bolts to the intake and then the plate on the right bolts to the first plate.  The studs are in place to slide the throttle body on.   Note: I had to cut the upper right bolt shorter to provide clearance to my alternator.

Ok, the TB is on the car and works great.  I did not have any idle or TPS problems.

Performance:  I headed to the track to test the modification, I did not see a gain in horsepower.  The reason of not gain could be from several reasons, the Volvo IC only flow ~127cfm so the larger throttle body does not matter at this point.  I will finish my new Intercooler and then do a stock vs. 60mm comparison.

Drivability:  How many guys also own a 5.0?  Imagine the 2.3L driving more like a 5.0 when you hit the throttle.   Carl Morris and I agree that with the stock throttle body, we would floor it until we get the boost we want then let off.  With the 60mm throttle body, a crack of the throttle, provides boost and makes the car more fun to drive (like it wasn't already fun).
